Old Town Medun

The old town of Medun (Meteon), a higher fortification, located 13 kilometers northeast of Podgorica, originates from the ancient period. It was built first as a fortress, later as a town, between the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. The well-preserved walls of the fortress were built of large blocks of carved stone, placed in several rows. The construction is very different in terms of monumentality and proportionality from the construction of other, less important Illyrian cities.
