Doclea
The remains of the former Roman city of Doklea near Podgorica represent the most significant and largest archaeological site in Montenegro. Its importance goes beyond the borders of Montenegro and it can be said that it is one of the most significant archaeological sites in the region. The city was founded at the very beginning of the first millennium, most likely during the Flavian dynasty, during the Vespasian era, when the largest number of municipalities were founded in the area of the Roman province of Dalmatia, on whose territory Doclea was located.
